W2

Will You Receive it?

Be sure to have access to your employee portal set up by your employer.

Your employer has until January 31, 2024 to issue your W2's.

Many jobs distribute these either by mail or by accessing the document section of your paycheck portal  as early as 01/15/24.

If no longer working there, contact EACH past employers by November 1st, 2023 to make sure they have your updated mailing address on file.

Last Paycheck Stub

In order to have an accurate tax return, you can't rely only on your year to date earnings and withholdings.

However your last paycheck data  will give you and idea on how much refund or tax liability you will have before splurging for the holidays. Check out my favorite  Refund Estimator Link.

FORM 1095-A

This tax form causes the most E-File Rejections.

Many taxpayers forget that at some of time in the tax year,

either themself or a household member received Health Insurance from the Marketplace and neglected to add their 1095-A.

To avoid delaying the acceptance of your return,  visit The Healthcare Marketplace before filing your taxes. You Must Report the Healthcare Savings you received.

Why is AGI so Important?

Your adjusted gross income is important for many reasons.

  1. The Final Number determines how much taxes you will pay.

  2. AGI's within a certain threshold are eligible for tax credits and deduction breaks.

  3. You will need the AGI number listed on Line 11 of your FORM 1040 in order to E-File.  --WHY?

Because since your return is electronically transmitted to the IRS, this is another layer of identity protection. Per the IRS, only the taxpayer will know their AGI so income must match what's in their database or the return will be Rejected.
